Alden Village Center

Alden’s Village Center is a years-long vision that is finally coming to fruition. In 2021, the Alden Volunteers organization was generously deeded the 9087 Helena Road property, adjacent to the US Post Office.  The property was previously known as Mrs. Smith’s Village Park, or Posey Patch to some. The property had been owned by the Smith family for many years, operating Alden’s Motor Services from 1946-1977. Since 2000, the Smith family has allowed the Alden Volunteers, a community service organization, to use the site for numerous activities.

The Smith family entrusted the Alden Volunteers to transform the area into an aesthetic, cultural, social and educational space to serve the community, and AV is making that happen.

2022 saw removal of trees and underground collecting tanks that had been used during the service station years. Excavation, zoning approval, and installation of a well to the property also occurred. A permit to build was obtained in late 2023.

In 2024,  a  36’x24′ structure was built to provide secure storage space for Alden Volunteers and a covered pavilion for community events. The “Donor Walk of Fame” brick walk was installed. Custom engraved bricks will continue to be available for purchase at $100 p/brick until the walk is completely full. A brick order form is available on aldenvolunteers.com.

Professional park-like landscaping will complete the project in 2025.

Many local tradespeople have provided discounted materials and/or labor costs to the project. AV couldn’t have started this project when they did without their generosity.
